Identity Series has been an ongoing series since 2025

Identity is layered and full: a European canvas, Ukrainian embroidery, Chinese ink, and a Soviet-era nib pen — materials from different geographies and histories, brought into one surface.

The canvas introduces warmth and softness I usually resist. It feels like accepting a shadow, adding tenderness where I often pursue restraint. The result is slightly vulnerable, imperfect, even uncomfortably complex.

Embroidery stitches paper to canvas, creating wrinkles and textures beyond control. These unplanned formations become part of the work’s truth, reflecting how identity itself resists neat construction.

Identity opens a new direction in my practice: lines that carry not only time and repetition, but also the contradictions of place, history, and belonging.
